Lucidsound Ls41 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

When it comes to gaming, a good headset can take you a long way.

Obviously, it is not going to make you a better gamer, but if you are someone who plays games that are driven through dialogue, or generally have a lot of good action or immersive elements in it, you do need a good headset.

The market does not have a lack of amazing gaming headsets, but the sheer amount of options can easily confuse most of us.

Keeping all that in mind, we decided to take a look at the LucidSound LS41x, one of the newer headsets in the market. It is wireless, and does support some pretty nice features. In this review, we are going to explore several elements of this headset, and see just how good it is.

Design

While it may not seem like a practical thing to many people, but one of the most important factors that you need to know about any headset is the design language. After all, gamers do want their gear to look good, as well as have good performance.

Thankfully, the LucidSound LS41x actually follows a very simple design language. As a matter of fact, it is almost hard to tell if it is a gaming headset in the first place. But we are not complaining about that because it does look phenomenal with that. Something we definitely approve as far as the overall design is concerned.

It looks simple as well as elegant. Whether you are using it with the microphone attached or not, you are not going to actually get a lot of attention, which only means that you can easily wear it for music or other purposes as well.

Needless to say, LucidSound did a fantastic job designing this headphone. We could not have been happier. The design, along with the build quality is solid from our side.

Comfort

No matter how good of a headphone you make, if it is not comfortable enough for extended periods of time, it is not something that we are going to use, in the first place. I know it sounds shallow to some, but a good pair of headphones is known by its comfort as much as it is known by its sound quality.

Thankfully, when it comes to comfort, the LucidSound LS41x does not disappoint. The earpads that come factory installed are not just big, but they are also soft and supple; this means that there is an excellent amount of cushioning that this headphone provides.

Meaning that you will not be facing any weird sensation in your wears after long listening or using hours. However, if you are not used to such big ear cups, you might need some time to adjust to the padding.

The headband is nicely padded, as well. This is great because more often than not, this factor is one of the things that are ignored by many people. However, this is not the case with the LucidSound LS41x. As a matter of fact, you will not feel that the headband is becoming an intrusion in your overall experience.

Another great thing that adds to the overall comfort is that despite the clamping force being there.

It never feels too overpowered so if you are someone who is going to be wearing these headphones for extended periods, you will not have to worry about the side of your head hurting because of the excessive clamping force.

Performance

Moving onto the last bit of the review, we are going to look at just how good the LucidSound LS41x is when it comes to the overall performance. Now this is where things get interesting.

Being a wireless headphone, I had my reservations, but they did not last for long.

First things first, I have to commend LucidSound for delivering outstanding sounding headphones. These headphones sound amazing in almost every single aspect, and the overall audio is balanced. I will not call these neutral by any means, but they do not ruin the sound of whatever you are listening or playing.

Moving onto the boom mic, it is one of the best microphones that we have tested on any gaming headset. It is excellent, and the best part about this microphone is the excellent noise cancellation that it offers.

However, not everything is good. For starters, I do not like the fact that something as simple as Dolby Digital sound controls are difficult and confusing to work on these headphones. Additionally, if you are looking to plug these headphones in the PC, you can easily do so but you are going to need a sound card so you can utilize the 7.1 surround sound, which is another downer for many PC users.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we have to say that the LucidSound LS41X is actually a pretty capable gaming headset. Aside from the minor grievances like the difficult control of the Dolby Digital or DTS controls, pretty much everything is something that happens to be top of the line about this gaming headphone.

If you are looking for something that will serve you well for the longer periods of time, you should definitely go for this headset as it is only going to make your experience a lot better and easier as well. You will not have to worry about anything that might come in the way.
